1. Cooperative Development Department

The Cooperative Development Department serves as the engine room for establishing, supporting, and nurturing cooperative societies across the state. This department provides technical assistance, policy guidance, and operational support to ensure that cooperatives are sustainable, member-driven, and economically viable.

  • Facilitate the formation of new cooperative societies
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of existing cooperatives

2. Rural Development Unit

Bridging the Urban-Rural Development Gap

Dedicated to improving the standard of living in rural communities, the Rural Development Unit implements initiatives that address poverty, unemployment, and underdevelopment through cooperative-driven solutions.

  • Implement rural infrastructure and livelihood projects

3. Registration & Regulation Department

Ensuring Legal Compliance and Cooperative Integrity

This department oversees the registration, accreditation, and regulatory compliance of all cooperative societies within Akwa Ibom State. It ensures that societies operate transparently, adhere to statutory guidelines, and maintain financial and governance integrity.

  • Register and license new cooperative societies
  • Maintain cooperative databases and documentation

4. Training & Cooperative College Department

Building Capacity, Leadership, and Knowledge

This department operates in collaboration with the Akwa Ibom Cooperative College and other training institutions to deliver capacity-building programs, seminars, and leadership development courses tailored for cooperative members, leaders, and staff.

  • Produce newsletters, press releases, and educational content
  • Coordinate stakeholder sensitization and media outreach

5. Information & Communication Unit
