The Akwa Ibom Bureau of Cooperatives and Rural Development has launched a statewide campaign urging all cooperative societies—both new and existing—to register and obtain their Cooperative Unique Identification Number (CUIN).
This unique number, issued by the Bureau upon verification, serves as an official recognition of your cooperative’s legal and operational status. It is a vital requirement for cooperatives to access financial support, training opportunities, public grants, and government-endorsed partnerships.
“The CUIN is not just a number—it’s your gateway to credibility, funding, and full participation in the cooperative economy,” says Rt. Hon. Alice Ekpenyong, Special Adviser to the Governor on Cooperatives & Rural Development.

✅ Why You Should Get Your CUIN
Access Government Grants & Support:
Only registered cooperatives with a CUIN are eligible for rural development grants, agricultural inputs, and state-endorsed subsidies.Participate in Trainings & Policy Dialogues:
CUIN holders receive priority invitations to leadership training, business development sessions, and policy roundtables hosted by the Bureau.Build Trust & Transparency:
Having a CUIN boosts your reputation with members, partners, and financial institutions. It proves your cooperative is compliant and structured.Avoid Penalties for Non-Compliance:
By law, all operating cooperatives must be registered and recognized. Failing to register could result in restricted access to markets and government benefits.
